Martha  – Piano

Martha is a North Carolina native classically trained pianist and singer.  She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in music from NYU and East Carolina University respectively.  She attended NYU on a full scholarship as a Trustee Scholar.  She was a recipient of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Sophomore Book Award, and is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda music honor fraternity.  As a teen she placed third in the First Holiness National Teen Talent Competition for Piano in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She has been teaching piano since 2013 and voice since 2011.   From 20015-2016 she served as the organist for the Armed Services Main Post Chapel in Fort Bragg.  From 2004-2006 she served as the Director and Accompanist for the Children’s Choir at Saint Philips’ Church in Durham.  Ms. Anderson enjoys a rich performance career as a mezzo-soprano and made her debut appearance this season with North Carolina Opera in the role of Persephone (Hercules vs. Vampires).  She has appeared with numerous opera companies and orchestras including the North Carolina Symphony, the New York City Metro Chamber Orchestra, and most recently, Duke Symphony Orchestra in “Serenade to Music.”
